  1. $22M Grant Supports RSR Wastewater Facility

    The Red-Seine-Rat (RSR) Wastewater Co-operative, which serves six municipalities in the southeast, received a crucial $22 million grant from the federal and provincial governments through the Canada Housing Infrastructure Fund.   2. Ritchot Approves Large Adult-Living Development in IDC

    Ritchot Council approved a new, multi-phase, adult-living housing complex proposed for Île-des-Chênes (IDC) that will include 316 rental units (apartments and row houses).   3. Major Steinbach Intersection Reopens After 17 Months

    After over 17 months of construction, the major intersection of Loewen Boulevard and Brandt Street in Steinbach has fully reopened to traffic as of Monday, November 24, 2025.   4. Niverville Council Denies Second Cannabis Store Variance

    Niverville Town Council voted to deny a request to reduce the required 1,000-foot setback between a proposed cannabis and vape store and nearby youth facilities. Council denied the variance because the requested 62.3% reduction, down to 377 feet from a Youth for Christ building, was deemed excessive and significantly beyond past precedent. → Source: Steinbach Online

  5. October Council Highlights: New Business Approvals

    The Town of Niverville approved multiple conditional use applications during its October council meeting, including a summer market to run every Friday from May to September at the Centennial Arena.   6. Niverville Council Says Yes to New Cafe and Cabinet Shop

    Niverville Council approved two new businesses: an expansion for the Forgotten Flavours bakery and café at 69 Main Street, and Canadian Prime Solutions Inc., a new cabinet manufacturing and showroom operation in the business park. They also approved Plan B Metalworks, a robotic metal fabrication company, to operate in the business park to address manufacturing labour shortages.

  7. Sio Silica Holds Open House for Renewed Mining Application

    Sio Silica held a public open house this week as part of its second effort to obtain an environmental licence for sand extraction in the RM of Springfield. After the previous application was rejected due to water quality concerns, the company has scaled back its proposal by planning to drill fewer wells and extract less sand.   8. Ste. Anne Area Christmas Hamper Registration Deadline Approaches

    Residents of the RM of Ste. Anne and the Town of Ste. Anne wishing to receive a 2025 Christmas Hamper must submit their registration form in writing by the deadline of November 28, 2025.   4. Green Bay Bridge Closure Scheduled for Winter

    The RM of Brokenhead has announced a long-term closure of the Green Bay Bridge (78N) starting on November 15, 2025, and lasting until March 31, 2026.   5. Lac du Bonnet Recycling System Changes to Co-mingled
